Personal Support day
The day will be run by: Juliet Emerson MA, PGCE, MIAPH
Juliet has internal and external supervision certificates and 12 years experience as a group and individual supporter. She has also spent many years teaching and running workshops in schools and universities. This day will concentrate on personal support for you as a therapist. This day is interactive: there will be opportunities throughout the day to practise your skills.
The aims of a good support colleague should include being a mentor and a guide to assist the therapist to become a professional therapist by developing the standards, boundaries, skills and knowledge of pure hypnoanalysis. The day will concentrate on the skills needed to give and receive support including:
Interpersonal Skills
Listening skills: active listening, summarising, reflecting back etc.
Building rapport, trust and empathy
Transference and counter transference
You know a lot about transference but how much do you know about counter transference?
How do transference and counter transference interact?
Learn to ‘tune in’ to your client
Find out about the tremendous power of counter transference and how it can help and hinder.
The cost of attending this one day course is £120 (£85 to IAPH Members) – which includes refreshments and a buffet lunch on both days. Bed and Breakfast is available at the Hotel - at a specially negotiated rate of just £35 (per person, per night).
Professional Support day

This day is about professional support, you may wish to bring particular client issues to the
seminar and gain some help with them.
This day is interactive: there will be opportunities throughout the day to practise your skills.
